About the Author
Sidney Levy has been associated with the general contracting business for 40 years, working on projects ranging from residential high-rises to pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. He is the author of eleven books pertaining to project management, subcontracting, the Japanese construction industry, and international infrastructure. Mr. Levy currently is the principal in a construction consulting business in Baltimore, Maryland where he resides.

R. Dodge Woodson has built as many as 60 houses a year. He is a licensed builder, remodeler, designated real estate broker, master plumber, and master gasfitter. His experience as a land developer and builder makes his contribution to this book extremely valuable. Woodson has authored numerous books and continues to apply his trade as he has for more than 25 years.

Sidney M. Levy (Baltimore, Maryland) is an independent construction industry consultant with more than 30 years in the industry. He is the author of numerous books on construction methods and operations. Received the British Chartered Institute of Building Silver Metal for the 3rd edition of Project management in Construction in the category of Managing Construction.

A good and affordable introduction to extrusion.

I am a Process Technician at a plastics compounding company. I ordered this book when I first was hired because I came from a molding company and needed to quickly grasp extrusion principles. This book was one of the few that I could find that was affordable. It provided me with a good understanding of extrusion.

Good book

This is an excellent book describing the fundamentals of plastics extrusion. Its only shortcoming--if you care to call it that--is its reliance on the most common thermoplastics to describe all plastics extrusion. In defense of the authors, they did state that caveat. I have given it 5 stars but I only studied about half of the material in the book, and do not feel qualified to rate the other half, specifically the chapters around heat transfer, downstream equipment, design and integration, computer control, and plant design. Someone with more experience around that might give the prospective buyer a better picture.

Mulukutla S. Sarma is the author of numerous technical articles published in leading journals, including the first studies of methods for computer-aided analysis of three-dimensional nonlinear electromagnetic field problems as applied to the design of electrical machinery. This book was published in 1994. I guess not much has changed since then. It is not a very good read, but the homework questions are pretty straight forward.

Not bad, but not good either

I have this book, and have read it. At the university I give lectures in dynamics of electrical machines. For the students it is the first time they expirience electrical machines. A problem you always face is what is a good book on electrical machines? I know from expirience that the perfect book propperly will never exist. In this book, I must say, there are some very good explanations on how the different motors work and their dynamics. However, for long pasages it is _not_ clear what the aim is. For a person already knowing electrical machines, it is interesting to talk about motor-windings in a general way, but if want to learn how the basic motors as a DC_motor, a induction motor and a synchronous motor works, it is nescessary to explain electromechanical energy convertion first and then attack each of the motors individually. This is where this book fails. It is a mess with some good parts inside.

Your first and most reliable guide to happiness is your body. The body is designed to support the mind, and working together they create the state known as happiness. When you're deciding whether or not to act, ask your body, "How do you feel about this?" If your body sends back a signal of physical or emotional distress, reconsider the action. If your body sends a signal of comfort and eagerness, proceed. Together, mind and body form a single field. It is artificial to separate them as we usually do. Every experience has a physical component. If you're hungry, the mind and stomach are hungry together. If you have an incredible spiritual experience, your heart and liver cells share in it. You cannot have a single thought, sensation, or feeling without your body responding.

The first key to happiness tells us that by being aware of your body, you are connecting to the underlying field of infinite possibilities. Why do mind, body, and spirit feel separate when they are not? Because of lack of awareness. Awareness has tremendous power. It tunes into every cell. It regulates the body's countless interactions. Awareness is the invisible, silent agent that lets your body know what your mind is thinking, and at the same time it sends feedback from the body so that the mind feels supported and understood. Ideally, when you experience being loved, your mind will grasp that you are loved, your cells will be nourished by that love, and your soul will rejoice that you have reached deep enough to find the source of love. Every good thing in life saturates your whole being.

When mind, body, and spirit are in harmony, happiness is the natural result. Signs of the absence of harmony, on the other hand, are discomfort, pain, depression, anxiety, and illness in general. Unhappiness is a form of feedback. It signals that disharmony has entered the field somewhere--either in mind, body, or spirit. Awareness has become disconnected. Only when we look at the situation in this holistic way can we link health, wholeness, and holiness, for all three share the same root word, and all three share the same state of harmony or disharmony. You may have heard the saying "The issues are in the tissues." This refers to the fact that psychological issues such as anger, depression, neurosis, hostility, and free-floating anxiety are not simply psychological. They have a correlate in the brain, and through the central nervous system the brain makes every cell and tissue in your body aware that you have an issue.

The entire field quivers at the slightest twinge of pain or pleasure. In other words, the field is aware. When you consciously pay attention to what your body is telling you, this awareness is tremendously increased. Awareness isn't the same as having a thought. A mother is aware of how her child feels without having to think "A is bothering him" or "B has gone wrong." Awareness is intuitive. All you have to do is pay attention, and awareness grants you access to every corner of the infinite field. This is like being plugged into the cosmic computer, because when the field organizes the smallest thing in creation, it organizes the whole.

The opposite is also true. When you withdraw awareness, disruptions occur on many levels at the same time. Feedback loops no longer operate as they should between mind and body. The flow of energy and nourishment needed by every cell begins to diminish. By not paying attention to your body, you are putting it in the same predicament as a neglected child. How can a child be expected to develop normally if the parents pay no attention, if they ignore its cries for help, and remain indifferent to whether their child is happy or unhappy? The same question applies to the body, and it leads to the same answer. The body doesn't stop developing around age twenty, an arbitrary time we call maturity. Constant change is always taking place, all the way down to the level of genes. Change is never neutral. Either it leads to growth, development, and evolution or it leads in the opposite direction, toward decline, decay, and disorder. The difference depends on how you pay attention, because attention is your connection to the field of infinite possibilities.

The field has certain qualities or attributes that support mind, body, and spirit. There are three qualities that contribute to happiness most significantly. Intelligence is the first. When you listen to your body, you eavesdrop on the mind of the universe. This involves many tasks at once. A human body can think thoughts, play a piano, secrete hormones, regulate skin temperature, kill germs, remove toxins, and make a baby all at the same time. That is a miraculous display of intelligence. This intelligence also allows you to make choices that lead to fulfillment.

Fulfillment seems mysterious to many people, but we can break it down into its simplest parts. Fulfillment is the result of right thought, right feelings, and right action. Each area involves the body. We don't have to create artificial boundaries between a liver cell that makes a right choice and the mind making a right choice. Intelligence embraces both. If it makes a mistake at the chemical or genetic level, the cell dies or becomes malignant. The mind discriminates right from wrong at a different level, the level of ethics and morals. The emotions have their own level, discriminating between nourishing and toxic feelings, or between loving and harmful relationships. When you are consciously aware of your body and what it is telling you, the quality of intelligence is amplified. Its reach is infinite. While the human body performs countless physical processes, it tracks the movement of stars and planets, because your biological rhythms are actually the symphony of the whole universe. That's why we call it the universe--"one verse," "one song."

The second attribute of the field is creativity. Creativity keeps the flow of life fresh and new. It prevents inertia; it dispels habit. Much of the time the body seems stuck in routine. One breath is the same as another, one heartbeat repeats the action that came before. Simply to process food and air, your cells must endlessly repeat the same chemical processes with tremendous accuracy; no improvisation is allowed. But miraculously, the body also has complete flexibility to adapt to new situations. When you decide to do something new--have a baby, run a marathon, or climb a mountain--billions of cells adapt to your intention. This flexibility isn't mechanical. It's not like your car accelerating because you push down on the gas pedal. Rather, your body adapts creatively.

You can observe this in how creatively you can think and speak. No two thoughts are required to be exactly alike; no two sentences demand exactly the same words. The brain displays a pattern of neural activity to match any thought or sentence, even if that thought or sentence has never before appeared in the history of the universe. The ancient Vedic wisdom tradition in India identified creativity with Ananda, or bliss. Bliss is usually described as intense joy, but cells have their own bliss in the form of vitality, flow, and infinite dynamism.

To be most alive is to be in bliss. When you are in that state, everything feels possible. Your body is no longer a burden; you feel light as air. Nothing is old or stale. Instead, your creative potential is ignited. Creativity depends on the constant ability of life to refresh itself, and that ability is founded on bliss. You don't have to force yourself to be blissful--you couldn't if you tried--but only to be aware. Bliss is innate in awareness, which by its nature is lively, alert, effervescent, and joyful. The absence of those things can be corrected simply by accessing deeper awareness.

The third attribute of the field is power. Although cells operate on a microscopic level, they contain the power to survive, thrive, and evolve in an environment that erodes entire mountain ranges and dries up vast ancient seas. Power doesn't mean aggression. The power you don't see or feel is the greatest power of all. It organizes a thousand billion cells into one smoothly operating organism. It defends against every virus and germ that could harm the body, and monitors outbreaks of cancer inside the body itself.

Once again, it is entirely artificial to put boundaries around this quality of the field. Mind, body, and spirit express power in their own ways. The mind expresses power as attention and intention, turning wisps of thought into outward achievement. The body expresses power through physical strength and endurance, but also by organizing infinite processes into a coherent whole. Spirit expresses power by turning pure potential into reality. In the Indian tradition, spiritual power, called Shakti, is the most fundamental. When you possess Shakti, you can turn the invisible into the visible. Whatever you imagine manifests as reality. There are no obstacles between your desire and its fulfillment.

Shakti isn't mystical. It's an innate quality of awareness, without which invisible molecules of oxygen would drift randomly through the atmosphere. Apply awareness, and those same molecules carry life to every cell in the body. Going even deeper, Shakti allows you to cocreate the universe. You are not a passive observer in the cosmos. The entire universe is expressing itself through you at this very minute. It knows itself through you as awareness folds back on itself. Like a transformer that steps down the massive voltage running through high-tension power lines, your body steps down the energy of the universe to human scale. But it remains the same power. The infinitesimal electric charge emitted by a single brain cell is exactly the same as the firestorm of electromagnetism in an entire galaxy. This power is channeled through awareness, which means that when you become aware of anything, inside or outside yourself, you are increasing your share of power in the universe.

I want you to see that this one simple act--being aware of your body--unleashes intelligence, creativity, and power. Being aware isn't trivial, and it isn't optional, either. Once you withdraw your awareness by being distracted, depressed, restless, unhappy, or anxious, the flow of intelligence, creativity, and power is broken off. Most of the "natural" decay and disease seen in old age is actually the unnatural outcome of decreased awareness, which is felt by every cell and damages every cell.

One of the most basic ways to be aware is by grounding yourself in the body. There is no mystery to this. Simply tune in to the feelings in your body whenever you've been distracted. Let's say you're driving a car and somebody cuts you off. Your normal reaction is to be agitated or angry; when you feel this way, you lose the calm, relaxed focus that connects you to the field. So try this: instead of being disrupted by this disruption, just go within and feel the sensations of your body. Take a deep breath, since that is an easy way to come back to body awareness.

Keep your attention on these distracting sensations until they disappear. What you've done is break the chain of stimulus-response by creating a gap, an interval of nonreaction. This stops the reaction from fueling itself. It reminds the body of its natural state of harmonious, coordinated self-regulation. And that grounds you. Harmonious self-regulation is the body's ground state. Stress pulls you into another state, of heightened biological responses that trigger a flow of hormones, increase heart rate, stimulate hypervigilance of the senses, and many other linked reactions. But these are all temporary; they are emergency measures only. If you allow the stress reaction to become a habit, however, disharmony enters the field. The normal state of relaxed awareness tries to coexist with the agitated state of the stress response, but the two don't mix; they aren't meant to exist at the same time.

Anytime you're feeling distracted, overwhelmed, stressed, or overshadowed, there's a tendency to escape. Denial is a form of escape. Distracting yourself through overwork is an escape. Altering your mind with drugs and alcohol is an escape. What they all have in common is absence of awareness. You numb or distract yourself under the false belief that being too aware will only increase your pain. In reality the opposite is true. Awareness heals, because awareness is truly whole, and healing is fundamentally a return to wholeness.

Science is just beginning to understand the phenomenon of healing. Over millions of years our bodies evolved to regulate thousands of microscopic processes simultaneously. Disease occurs when the body forgets how to self-regulate itself. Healing occurs when the body remembers how to self-regulate itself.

You can be exposed to pneumococcus bacteria, for example, but exposure alone isn't enough to create infection. You don't contract pneumonia if your body knows how to make the appropriate antibody, and that ability ultimately comes down to awareness. Your immune system recognizes an invader, identifies it, and calls for the appropriate intervention. These are all conscious acts. Healing therefore cannot be understood unless the mind is as fully conscious as the body. In medicine we have isolated the nervous system, the endocrine system, the cardiovascular system, but we ignore the healing system. It's invisible, it includes every part of the body, it responds to the ghostly wisp of thought and feeling. Yet nothing is more intelligent, creative, and powerful than the healing system, the one thing we keep ignoring.

Healing should be as constant as breathing, not an isolated process for fending off illness. Healing should mean constant communication with the field. We've covered the most important step: becoming aware of the sensations in your body. The other thing you can do is begin to become aware of the field that invisibly unifies everything. How is that done? Ordinarily you focus on things, people, and events--all kinds of outward stimuli. Instead, try looking at the spaces between things. If you're looking at another person, shift your attention to the space between the two of you. The field exists where we think there is nothing--in the space between thoughts, the space between objects, the space between breaths, the space between movements. It's all the same space, but what we call nothing is lack of awareness. If you are aware, space is full, rich, dynamic. It's the field of pure potential, the unknown region from which the next moment and everything in it will emerge.

Space is always still. So when you bring your attention to space, you still the mind. At the same time your body can begin to release the stored-up frustration, tension, and residues of past stress. In this state of deep relaxation, healing becomes most active. Your body needs to release the energy that is stuck to outworn emotions, memories, and traumas. Ideally, you wouldn't identify with these negative influences; you wouldn't hold on to them and add more energy to them.

A wonderful, simple and potentially transformative book.

I went looking for a book to help me feel at peace and happy again following a very exhausting and difficult year. I felt as though i had lost my direction, my energy, my sense of purpose and my ability to appreciate and enjoy all of the simple pleasures and experiences that used to delight and enrich my life. In short, i felt like I was beginning to take life and everything in it for granted, and nothing i tried made me feel better. I was numb and bored. And then I took a chance on this book and as soon as i started reading it, my life slowly began to regain color, a feeling of lightness and my sense of purpose became clearer and i have genuinely started to feel happier. I'm hesitant to say that this book is for everyone, or that you can expect similar results but then again, happiness is a universal concept and we are all hardwired to pursue and experience it, so perhaps this book should come with such a high recommendation and guarantee for profound transformation after all. Regardless, i can safely say that its a breeze to read because the subject matter is so light in nature, it is eloquently written, exceedingly thoughtful, and the structure is purposefully composed and structured.

Bottom line? If you're looking for some light reading that could potentially change the way you see yourself and the world around you, or if you simply want to read something cheerful and wholesome, i can't think of a better recommendation than this book here.

This Prescription Works

I loved this book. Very insightful and at the same time practical. I love books that speak about goodness, happiness, love and also impart information on how to achieve this peaceful state in one's own life. It speaks about spirituality...which to me translates into being good for goodness sake! It is not teaching based on a particular religious denomination. Sometimes dwelling on religious aspects, while introducing certain concepts, can cause such division and conflict that the message can get lost in the fight of who is right. This book is a gentle read, suggesting ways of achieving happiness without rubbing someone else the wrong way. I have always found something I can relate to when reading a book authored by Deepak Chopra. I was so inspired by this book, I bought a copy for each of my three adult children.

Having said that, the book would probably only be meaningful to those who have already been exposed to the concepts of Unity and Reality as espoused by Deepak Chopra and others of this genre.

Ok, 10-page book, two characters mentioned

First the positive ... This is a cute book with bright colors. This large board book has pages that are sturdy and easy to turn for little hands. My 2.5 year old son watches the cartoon and loves to point to the characters in the book as they appear on tv.

Its size is about 8" x 9" and contains 10 cardboard pages (5 front and back, including cover). In the middle of the book is a cloth tube that resembles the dragon's body. When the pages are turned the 3-D body appears on each page. There is nothing unusual about the body. I've seen some pop-up books where it looks like the feature moves. This just looks like cloth around wire tubing. Although my son enjoys the book, for a book that cost over $10 and only has 10 pages, I do not think it is worth the price.

In addition, six characters are drawn into the book and only two characters are mentioned - Kai Lan, the little girl, and Tolee, the koala bear. That's fine, but if you don't particularly watch the show and your child asks you the names are of the other characters - tiger (Rintoo), monkey (Hoho), rhino (Lulu) grandfather (Yeahya sp?) - you won't know how to answer. I think books should try to weave the names its major characters into the story, after all, the intro to the cartoon always mentions the characters names too.

My daughter loves it...ok i do too. :)

SOOOOO cute. mt 2 year old loves this show so i thought books would be great for her. Its a boardbook so she cant rip it apart and its kindof a pop up book. that was a nice surprise. i opened it and the body of the dragon poped open (basically a coil covered in red fabric that looks like the lengthy part of a traditional chineese dragon) i love it she loves it and i would definately recomend it, especially for the price. its perfect!

About the Author

Nigel Biggar is Regius Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology, and Director of the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics, and Public Life, at the University of Oxford, where he is also a Canon of Christ Church Cathedral. Before taking up his current post in 2007, he held chairs in Theology at the University of Leeds and at Trinity College Dublin. Among his published works are: Behaving in Public: How to Do Christian Ethics (2011), (co-ed.) Religious Voices in Public Places (2009), Aiming to Kill: The Ethics of Suicide and Euthanasia (2004); and (ed.) Burying the Past: Making Peace and Doing Justice after Civil Conflict (2001, 2003). In Defence of War

Having read about and thought about war and wars for essentially all my life, I must say that I have never encountered an author so determined to assay so many of others' opinions. Biggar, in order to test his ideas, goes after the toughest cases. In addition to all this, he is a delightful writer. You may disagree, but you will enjoy the ride.

About the Author
HERMAN MELVILLE (1819-1891) was born in New York City. Family hardships forced him to leave school for various occupations, including shipping as a cabin boy to Liverpool in 1839--a voyage that sparked his love for the sea. A shrewd social critic and philosopher in his fiction, he is considered an outstanding writer of the sea and a great stylist who mastered both realistic narrative and a rich, rhythmical prose. He is best known for his novel Moby-Dick and the posthumously published novella Billy Budd.

To Me Personally, Interesting More Than Enjoyable

I am very glad I read this. It is very interesting on many levels. However, I cannot say it was really an artistic pleasure to read.

The story can be read from many standpoints. Was that the author's intention? I wish I knew. I do not know. Obviously, the story is written by Herman Melville. That alone makes it worth the effort in terms of the study of literature.

Bartley is pretty much the only character who is actually named. Certainly Herman Melville is sophisticated enough that I can assume that is intentional. I feel that a sense of isolation is created, by the author, amid an urban environment. Then we find Bartleby had worked in a "dead letter" office. It is my understanding that Mr. Melville himself was becoming a somewhat forgotten author in his own lifetime.

In the course of further study, I found that the story did not find immediate acclaim but has since become iconic. This is true with many works. "The Great Gadsby", which I truly love, comes to mind. But I had to read The Great Gadsby twice, and all of F. Scott Fitgerald's work in between, in order to really come to appreciate The Great Gadsby. I do not feel that way about this story. But I really enjoyed it as a reading experience. Thank You...

He Would Prefer Not To

This story strikes a chord for numerous reasons and can be read on many levels. Modern readers can still relate to Bartleby's sense of hopelessness, but just what is causing his ennui? A myriad of influences converge to make the case for his listlessness. Not to mention the lawyer who is Bartleby's boss and also the narrator of the story plays his part in handling his employees passiveness in a passive way. The symbolism of being walled in cuts to the quick, and the drudgery of work on my well-being does as well. If ever there were a great example of all that the short story form can accomplish, Melville's tale is a shining example.

ONCE, AMAZON ID'd BOOKS AS PAPERBACK, PAMPHLET, HARD BOUND?

This version is a desktop production of 39 photocopied computer printed pages. Quite flimsy. While other editions are actual 'paperbacks' as I identify them; they're all going for less. Some, as 'Like New' are going for $.01 in Amazon Marketplace Or new from Amazon for $4.00.

Moral of m'story: Amazon has all kinds of great books, movies seemingly most everything else. At all prices. These days, frugality's for everyone except the top 4%. Good idea to check buying choices. I just spent $6 more than I could've/should've/would've spent.

As for this fine book itself: Too many Great Writers are ignored because they were first read centuries ago. Melville, Dickens, Mann and many more are out there waiting for us all. Not to mention European authors like Tolstoy, Gogol, Chekhov, Dostoevsky, Pushkin… and more incredible, readable and enjoyable Masters.

I've trolled Asian authors too and found great reads. All, at Amazon of course.So getting worldly in your reading's right for our millennium and
your matter too.

Read for not only what's said but how it's said. Those past masters have styles, diction and - for the Masters - brilliant, edifying and entertaining concepts and insights still fitting for today. SO SIX STARS for Bartleby's story and one star for this flimsy edition. Nice cover art, though.

"The Physiology Coloring Book" is the companion to the extremely successful "Anatomy Coloring Book", which has sold more than 2.5 million copies.

About the Author

Wynn Kapit graduated in 1955 from the University of Miami, Florida with honors in Business Administration and Law. He then attended Art Center School in Los Angeles and worked in New York as a graphic designer and advertising art director from 1960-66. He moved to California to pursue a painting career and was given a one-man show at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco in 1968. He then attended the University of California at Berkeley and received a Masters in Painting and worked as a portraitist and teacher of figure drawing.

While taking a class in human anatomy at San Francisco City College, he discovered a way to effectively learn the subject by coloring in drawings, diagrams and names. The teacher of the course, Lawrence Elson, Ph.D. agreed to help him produce a coloring book. Elson wrote and Kapit designed and illustrated The Anatomy Coloring Book, which was published in 1977 and has been a widely-translated bestseller ever since. The Physiology Coloring Book was published in 1987, with the assistance of two professors from Berkeley: Robert Macey and Esmail Meisami. The Geography Coloring Book was published in 1991; Kapit drew the maps and wrote the text. The Anatomy Coloring Book was published in a second edition in 1993, and second editions of Geography and Physiology Coloring Books will be published in 1997.

Robert Macey is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. He was a Professor of Physiology and Chair of the Department of Physiology-Anatomy at Berkeley. Dr. Macey has written extensive research articles and reviews on membrane transport as well as a successful text on human physiology. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

Esmail Meisami is a professor in the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Illinois. He has authored and edited books on biology, physiology, human growth and development, and developmental neurobiology and has written numerous research papers on sensory systems and hormones in brain development. Absolutely the best way to learn Physiology

This book is incredible - authors have really latched onto a great teaching technique. The information is excellent, succinct and very complete. The drawings are incredibly detailed and FUN to color (ok I'm 52 and may be in my 2nd childhood, but this is an very effective way to learn a very complex subject.) I am a vet tech student going for a second career (and possible poverty) - classic midlife crisis - and this book is great. In addition to being very informative and intellectually stimulating, it is also relaxing to do the coloring. And, there are things I have learned that I will never forget because my mind immediately recalls me coloring the particular process. Wish there were a similar Anatomy book that concentrated more on veterinary anatomy - the parallel coloring book for Anatomy is very human-centered.
Two criticisms:
1) I think the authors are trying to save you $$$ so they say you only need 10 colored pencils - save yourself frustration and buy the Crayola box of 32 at any art store - only $8.50 or so - and save yourself some grief - there are many plates that need more than 10 colors.
2) There are a few errors in the coloring notes - not too many - but they do exist, so if something seems wrong, just use your common sense.

Unparalleled learning tool!

I purchased this book after discovering how useful the Anatomy Coloring Book was to my studies, and I have to say I'm every bit as impressed with Wynn Kapit's second book! Although at first glance this would appear to be an overly simplistic method of learning (frankly, I don't think I've colored since I was six!), I've found it to be beneficial for several reasons - the colouring process introduces an entirely new aspect of learning (versus reading and auditory methods), and allows the student to see the positioning and relationship of the physiological processes in question. The diagrams are clear and comprehensive, and when completed, present an easy-reference, colour-coded plate for the student to quickly refer back to. Even after in-depth text readings on the various physiological systems, I find that completing the appropriate "coloring plate" in the Physiology Coloring Book leaves me with a much more complete understanding of the system in question. I would highly recommend this book to anyone studying physiology - for a course or for their own personal development. The effort required to complete these plates could undoubtedly be the difference between studying the process and learning the process!

Excellent Review of Physiology

I found this to be an excellent self-study review of a subject whose details were becoming vague in my mind. The attention required to color each page requires that the reader attend to each aspect of the subject so that it stays with him; it is not forgotten immediately as are so many written texts. The Anatomy Coloring Book makes a good companion to this workbook. Alone, the anatomy book is a bit too elemental but it is useful in conjunction with this excellent exposition of basic physiology.
