Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 – January 31, 1892) was a British Particular Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers." This despite the fact that he was a strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition, defending the Church in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith understanding, against liberalism and pragmatic theological tendencies even in his day.
In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people,[1] often up to 10 times each week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years.[2] He was part of several controversies with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and later had to leave that denomination.[3] In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him posthumously.
Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, poetry,[4] hymnist,[5] and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. Arguably, no other author, Christian or otherwise, has more material in print than C.H. Spurgeon

About the Author
Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834–1892), the "Prince of Preachers," preached his first sermon at age sixteen and became a pastor at age eighteen. Spurgeon drew large crowds and built the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London in 1861 to accommodate them. He published over two thousand sermons; his inspiring and challenging messages comprise the largest collection of work by a single author. Spurgeon preached to an estimated ten million people during his lifetime, including notables such as the prime minister of England, members of the royal family, and Florence Nightingale. He appealed constantly to his hearers to move on in the Christian faith, to allow the Lord to minister to them individually, and to be used of God to win the lost to Christ. In addition to his powerful preaching, Spurgeon founded and supported charitable outreaches, including educational institutions. His pastors' college, which is still in existence today, taught nearly nine hundred students in Spurgeon's time. He also founded the famous Stockwell Orphanage.

Beyond the Superficial
By Eric W. Sprague
For many years I did not give the Beatitudes the kind of attention to study that it deserves. I would often hear or read them but always thought that Christ intended them for the non-believers. Being prompted by discussions in a study group, I decided to really take a closer look at this teaching and almost immediately I knew how wrong I was! The lesson Christ gives us through the Beatitudes is not only intended for believers, but really shows us the progression of our walk in faith. Spurgeon's gifted ability to walk you through the deep complexity of this scripture is amazing, timeless, and spiritually awakening! Another must read for the believer who truly seeks first the Kingdom of God!

Revolution of Faith from the Mountainside
By Paul Clark
When you read "the Beatittudes" you will better understand the "son of man". It in itself is a blessed writing and the beatittudes are some of the most gracious and some of the most precious remarks made by Jesus. On that mountainside, for the first time, Jesus laid out to his apostles the direction he intended to pursue and the intangible behavior one needs to entered into the KIngdom of Heaven. The beatitudes is all about doing the right things for the right reasons. It is about changing the human heart.

Plain and Profitable
By Sgt. Bilko
I was so happy when I found this for Kindle having read the paperback several years ago. I checked the Kindle and found the formatting is good and of course the content is second to none. There is the characteristic plainnes that those of us who love to read Spurgeon are familiar with and why we go back to his sermons and are refreshed in our souls. There is much profit to be gained by reading this and so much to meditate upon. I am hoping to see the Kindle edition of the grand achievement of Spurgeon completed so near his Home Going. The commentary on Matthew. For now, anything that you can get of Spurgeon will be a treat for you. He followed the "old paths" teaching and he is as profitable today as when he preached in Victorian England.
