Realistic photos of real rocks!

I love this book as the photos of the rocks and minerals are realistic to what most samples you see are! I have a couple other books, but the photos in them are unrealistic. In other words, the photos in those other books are of samples that are perfect and musuem quality, not ones that you'd see in the field. This book gives you realistic photos of realistic samples! Very informative too!

Great rock and mineral guide

I bought this on the recommendation of a friend and I wasn't disappointed. Plenty of good information on basic geology and fantastic identification pictures of everything from common rocks to beautiful examples of crystals and gems. I found myself using it to identify every pebble and rock in my still life objects box accurately, which helps a lot in titling still lifes paintings.

Good field guide for a layman. Explains the scientific terminology well and doesn't presume you're already familiar with it. Not a pocket guide but wonderful once you come home with small pebbles and digital pictures of boulders, explains everything.

Barbara Czarniawska is Professor of Management Studies at GRI, School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Doctor honoris causa at Stockholm School of Economics, Copenhagen Business School and Helsinki School of Economics, she is a member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences, the Swedish Royal Engineering Academy, the Royal Society of Art and Sciences in Gothenburg and Societas Scientiarum Finnica. Czarniawska takes a feminist and constructionist perspective on organizing, recently exploring the connections between popular culture and practice of management, and the organization of the news production. She is interested in methodology, especially in techniques of fieldwork and in the application of narratology to organization studies.

Good textbook for class

Was my text book for a class. I could highlight in four different colors, bookmark, make notecards and study them, look a my highlights from previous pages, etc. It was quite easy to navigate through the book. The book was a lot cheaper than renting from the university and I was able to set the rental for the last day of the semester to return it. The downside I would say was sometimes the Kindle for PC app that I downloaded it on did funky things. A couple times I had to remove the program and reinstall it on my laptop, which was frustrating. I also was disappointed I couldn't read it on my Kindle paperwhite or my tablet because the book wasn't supported on that format.

I don't know what to say other than I hate it- and I'm a techie! The subject matter (one I'm totally interested in by the way) was very hard to follow. Dull and lifeless. I couldn't believe that chapter after chapter this book failed to capture my attention, and I found myself becoming distracted...again and again. I put it down for a while and started reading another book by another author concerning the same subject and was almost immediately IMMERSED. I'd read through 6 chapters before I realized what I'd done. I'm guessing it's the writing styles that differ so much.

His book, “Unfixyou”, is a starting point for most to stop trying to find themselves outside of themselves. Sounds funny to say but that is what the entire world is doing. He simply points that out to his students and gets them to stay in the sensations of their bodies. His work and mission are profound! His students have amazing transformations as he literally teaches people how to turn off thinking. By doing so you bypass the filter, your brain, that has kept you in self bondage for eons. His energetic abilities are considered astounding by many but as he is quick to point out, “Everyone has these abilities. They simply forgot because they are thinking. Miracles are our birthright, not miracles.”

Path to Eden and my true self

This is my third time reading Jason Pipho's Unfixyou and I am realizing how deep and true Jason's messages are every time I read it.

As he put it, `How deep down the rabbit hole are you willing to go?'

To improve myself, increase my capacity in business and life, or find my true self, etc., I have studied from Mr. Robbins, Landmark, the Secret, Buddhism, ThetaHealing®, etc., etc., and Jason's writing is different from others. Although, initially it appeared to be similar to some others, it's in a different dimension/paradigm.

Many other programs deal with a level of thinking/belief/conviction and they teach different techniques to delete or change the so called `limiting' beliefs at a conscious or subconscious level to make things better. And, indeed, they did work for me to `improve' my thinking, hence results. I'm thankful to all of them. However, after reading this book, I know that they are dealing in the world of thinking - the world after Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge (= thinking).

This book shows the reader a way to go back to the world before the Tree of Knowledge, Eden. He explains how we have been `breaking' the perfection we already are, and how `fixing' ourselves actually break us even more.

Jason introduces simple exercises that individuals can do to be one's true self. He also writes specific instructions on meditation to quiet the mind/thinking.

After practicing those exercises, many things about me are changing and people are noticing the changes. In Jason's words, "All changes take place in the internal world and then the external world will change as if by magic." This book shows a way to meet the true, perfect self that, "was always there" and takes us back to Eden where we belong.

Defective printing, spelling & missing words

the manual was full of typos missing words &/ extra words , in some sentences, but most of all, approximately
20 to 25 % of the manual has whole pages were faded or not enough ink on them. It was very difficult to read
such pages. The materiel itself was very good but I had to work hard to decipher it.

"The Attic" is Danilo Kiš's first novel. Danilo Kis was one of Serbia's most influential writers and the author of several novels and short-story collections, including "A Tomb for Boris Davidovich, The Encyclopedia of the Dead", and "Hourglass". In 1980 Kis was awarded the Grand Aigle d'Or from the city of Nice. He died in 1989 at the age of 54.

In the Attic: Beer cans, girls and cobwebs

Two young studs get a taste of the freedoms to come in the 1950’s in Belgrade, Serbia. They push the envelope, play music, get involved with women, and talk ceaselessly of poetry, writing and philosophy. Their rented attic hangout is a dump. Later they open a pub. In this youthful male exuberance, I’m reminded of the Black Book by Lawrence Durrell. There is no plot and it doesn’t really go anywhere. It’s a quick read, just about 100 pages, and I assume, since it was originally published in 1962, it was the first work of Kis who went on to better writings. The translator gives us an introduction.

A good first novel

The Attic by Danilo Kis is a good first novel but definitely not his strongest work. I prefer his later writing especially his essays in Homo Poeticus. The story is short and flows good, for it's time and being written in Serbia it was probably ground breaking but for an American starting to read world literature in 2013 the motifs and writing style seems like a cliche, except that this was the type of work that created this type of experimental writing. Though it is a good read, one that can be accomplished in one sitting, I would suggest later works unless you are trying to see how this amazing writer evolved over time.

Very cool twist on a romance

This book opened up a world I never really paid attention to or even knew existed. Even though the characters started off on the wrong foot, I found myself emotionally invested in them and what was going to happen. Very cool twist on a romance.

I really enjoyed reading this. It was very different from other things I read in the past, and it was very hard to put down. The characters were really engaging and I was really rooting for them to have a happy ending. Highly recommended.

A friend loaned me this book and it was awesome! Its a sexy and unique love story that is probably one of the most original books out there. I loved the characters and I found the subject matter to be extremely interesting. Very well thought out and written. Highly recommend if your looking for something different to read.
