About the Author
When Bishop Eddie Long became the pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, it had a membership of 3,000. Under his leadership, it has grown to approximately 24,000 with members being added daily. A result of his ministry practice of mentoring, 40% of his present church membership is men. He is currently the Vice Chair on the Morehouse School of Religion Board of Directors, is affiliated with the Traditional Values Coalition in Washington, D.C. and has served as area moderator of the American Baptist Churches of the South. Bishop Long has a daily radio program in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, and London England. Bishop Long and his wife, Vanessa, have four children.

ABSOLUTE TRUTH

If there was ever a time in history where people need to understand their relationships, it is now. 1 out of every 2 marriages end in divorce; we have more children born to broken homes than ever before, and as a result, the children are learning from their parents on how to BE hurt, and STAY hurt. This generational transfer is ongoing at a rapid rate, and this book defines who women and men are to be in Christ. If we are ever going to make an impact in this world, we have got to first stand up and be the example, not the norm. We are to raise the standard, and Bishop Eddie Long brings insight to relationships like none other I have ever heard. In addition, it is bibically sound.... he gives scriptures to follow up with the truth he hits you with. If you EVER want to be a true kingdom man, or kingdom woman, then be not just Hearers (or readers) of the Word, but doers. Apply this Word to your life and watch God perform the miraculous. It may be a hard thing to do because of how you have been trained your whole life, but break out of your box AND GET THIS BOOK!!! You can not afford to live without it. Break the cycle of broken relationships in your life, your family, and your bloodline. Be the first to stand up and say NO MORE, NO MORE, NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!

Not the Expected!!!!

This is a very good book! I purchased this book with the leary thought it was going to be a "how to find a mate book". NOT THE CASE! I was pleasantly surprised to find that it not only gives a person understanding about expectations of a mate (with Biblical backup), it also also gives revelations and confirmations about what may (or may not) be within you. This book is a great guideline on how one may develop and/or better SELF to being the person that God wants you to be for Him and for a mate.

This book is for the young, the old, singles, married individuals, men, women.... EVERYONE. It is not just a book about finding a mate. It is for anyone wanting some insight into acheiving a closer relationship to God, their spouse, their child, etc. Wonderful information about various life situations. I would advise anyone/everyone to read this book (and practically have!). I love Eddie Long's candid writing style; it is like having a conversation with someone you already feel close to. I wish he had more books in print! Godspeed.

She Wants Out

Lisa, Bright and Dark is a short book consisting of 143 pages in medium font. Lisa is beautiful, smart and owns an air of modesty and wisdom aswell as prestige compared to most of her friends and most of the kids her age (16). Her boyfriend is the most wanted boy at school and her friends are the most caring and perfect friends you could ever wish for. What more is there that she could desire?

Lisa desires her freedom.

Sometimes Lisa sits alone and starts to hear voices. She hears them inside her head and they are certainly not her own. Cheerful, optimistic Lisa fails to be the usual Lisa from time to time by dressing in black costume-her beauty subsides to this by shriveling up into a face that's much too pale and thin. Lisa sits through class in a cold daze and has to use all her energy and strength to answer a single question in class. She is drained of every possible hope to live. Lisa is starting to go crazy.
Being a smart girl she tells her parents but they 'ignore' her. Her teachers close their eyes and decide not to understand and Lisa falls continuously whilst also trying desperately to get the adults around her to notice her, getting her voice heard and running away from her illness. Luckily, Mary Nell Ficket (MN) who seems identified in the story as Lisa's closest friend decides to do something about the whole matter.
Along with her friend Betsy Goodman who has never met Lisa before and yet seems to be the only one Lisa feels safe enough to talk to and Elizabeth Frazer who seems to hug deeply a secret that makes her so strong and controlling with Lisa's craziness-the three of them show Lisa, it's her friends who'll make her better.
When you pick up the book in the beginning you have the impression that it is a book based on Lisa completely in a diary format. Well, that's what you get the impression of from other reviews anyway. But surprisingly enough, the more you read-the more you come to realise that Lisa isn't infact the main character much more than the rest of the characters are. Lisa creates a chain of situations and instead of Lisa, we become more attached to her friends who try and clean up the situations and help Lisa regain herself.
This book is easy to read for any age over 12 but it may seem a little intimidating. If you are giving it to a child you ought to be careful. It certainly isn't an average "Ask Alice" style book, it's much more dense if you look into it. Otherwise, it's a good book to read whilst you have a few minutes. I suggest you read it in a noisy atmosphere or a bright environment or you'll become a little drowsy at the end of the book and get a tiny bit 'down' yourself.

I read this book in grade school, and decided to read it again,does not disappoint. Sometimes, as parents we loose sight of what is in front of us. Great book!

Dated.

Lisa is smart, pretty, popular and going insane. On "bright days" she's normal. On "dark days" she just sits there at her schooldesk and listens to the voices inside her head. Realizing that she is ill, she asks her parents to take her to a psychiatrist. They ignore the problem and say she's just going through a stage.
Lisa begins to act increasingly bizarrely. An episode of self-mutilation at school earns her a six-week vacation in Florida, but no actual help. By then her teachers have realized that something is seriously wrong, but their hands are tied. The only people who really try to help Lisa are her friends: Mary Nell, Betsy, and Elizabeth. Together they form a therapy group where Lisa sits and talks to them about what's going on. But it doesn't help. Lisa walks through a plate-glass window; her parents still don't pay attention. Only when she attempts suicide do they really wake up.
I found this book to be rather dated. It was written back in the sixties. The parents' reaction was unbelievable and the ending came too quickly and too fairy-taleishly. I'm not saying it was a terrible book, but I've read many that were much better.

Wow! Color me impressed - again! Alien Warrior is the third release in Sadie Carter's delightfully entertaining Zerconian Warrior Series and it still totally rocks! Although there is a good bit of backstory included in this book, I would not recommend reading it as a standalone but rather as a continuation after having read Alien Warrior and Alien Lover, the first and second books of the series. Unlike the first two books, this release concludes with a much more defined happy ending but fortunately for us, this is not the end of the series. This series is my first time reading Carter's work and from what I understand, this is her first foray into the world of science fiction and I for one, hope she continues! I'm not a professional reviewer but I am a person whose favorite pastime has always been reading. It has always been my passion and my stress reliever. There is nothing I love more than to escape to the fascinating worlds created in my books. I know what I like, what I love and what I don't. I realize that many of the books I read and review are not the literary classics from the great authors we have all read and loved but my philosophy is simple: if I read a story and it's well crafted and I enjoy it, then it deserves five stars and folks, I had a fabulous, fun-filled time reading this series; I was totally entertained and truly loved it! This story is not rocket science but it is imaginative, exciting, original, humorous, romantic, arousing and delightfully entertaining. I've found Sadie Carter's books to be well crafted, well written, well formatted, well edited and an absolute pleasure to read. The dialogue is smart, witty, snarky, captivating and flows effortlessly. The characters are unique, well developed, engaging, endearing, sexy as sin and at times, laugh out loud funny. The narrative is written in the third person with alternating points of view from the female and male protagonists of the story. My favorite! I absolutely loved the cover as well as the premise of the story and especially loved the snappy, seductive banter, interaction and obvious chemistry between the hero and heroine. If you love fun-filled, fast-paced science fiction adventure filled to the brim with heart-pounding drama, heart-stopping danger, spine-tingling adventure, adorable humor and steamy dreamy romance, then you will most definitely enjoy this book.
Crown Prince and future Emperor of Zerconia, Dexanon Xa'a has truly been blessed. He has found his mate but surprisingly, she's not a Zerconian - she's a human. What? Oh yes and now that's he found her on the isolated outpost in the far reaches of the galaxy, he has no intention of letting her go. She is HIS! He's not only the Crown Prince but also a warrior and takes what he wants and he wants Zoey even if she is determined to test his patience and fight him all the way to Zerconia. He will carry her kicking and screaming all the way to his spaceship and to his bed. Well, maybe Zoey isn't literally kicking and screaming because he is the most handsome male Zoey has ever seen but it's really just the principle of the thing. Zoey has always had a mind of her own and refused to be kowtowed and bossed by a man or an alien, no matter how big, hot or hunky he is. What in the world does he see in someone like her anyway? But to Dex, she's the most beautiful creature he's ever seen, even if she's also the most puzzling and pigheaded, and can get into more trouble than anyone he has ever met. But, she's also the kindest, bravest and most loyal creature he's ever known. And just when the new couple think they've finally put the danger behind them and can now embark on a happy, safe future together, Dex and Zoey realize they must travel to Zerconia and face their greatest foe yet - his mother! Oh my! No spoilers from me but I will say this.... Handsome, hunky alien warrior and crown prince who has finally found his true mate, a beautiful human from earth but has no clue how to 'control' her-check! Sassy, kindhearted, stubborn female earther who has quite literally found her prince even if he isn't quite so charming and also has no idea how to act like a princess but is a true champion for all underdogs and strays-check! A strange, loyal alien pet-check! An unexpected new ally and bodyguard-check! A cast of wonderful characters-check! Danger, drama, adventure, suspense, betrayal, a mother-in-law from hell and a very unexpected enemy who wants Zoe dead-check! Side-splitting humor, heated attraction, fiery passion and steamy, dreamy sex-you bet! That and a whole lot more! The best compliment I can give an author is to recommend, purchase and read another of their books. So, do I recommend Sadie Carter? Most definitely! Will I read her next book??? Darn straight I will! Deliciously cute, fabulously funny, completely captivating, seriously sexy and delightfully entertaining. I loved it! I completely fell in love with this series and its characters so bring on Book Four Sadie Carter!

About the Author
Vincent Scully is Sterling Professor Emeritus at Yale University. He is widely regarded as North America’s preeminent architectural historian. He is the author of 13 books, including many seminal works in architectural and urban design history. Among his many awards are the National Medal of Arts and the Urban Land Institute’s J. C. Nichols Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development. The National Endowment for the Humanities chose Scully to deliver its prestigious Jefferson Lecture, and the National Building Museum has established the Vincent Scully Prize in Scully's honor.

Changes one's Viewpoint

This purchase was a gift for friends with whom we will visit Sicily in the fall (2015). Our own copy -- much used and now dog-eared -- changed the way we travel throughout the Greek classical world. Scully's thesis -- that temple placement reflects the attributes of each god -- opened new ways for our analyzing the architecture we love so much. We do not leave home for the Mediterranean world without photocopied pages from Scully, and we love sitting at each site sharing what he saw. Throw in some Homer, and you have the perfect outline for a memorable vacation. I am so glad this wonderful resource is not out of print but has even enjoyed new editions

Absolutely essential book for understanding Greek temples

This book explains and illustrates the quick evolution of Greek temples in ancient times, explaining, in particular, how the muscular, almost squat early Doric columns evolved into tall, elegant ones. It has other insights as to siting and so forth. Its focus is on the artistic spirit of the buildings rather than on archaeology.

Suspense!

This is just by far the novel of the year for me--profound and beautiful and edge-of-your-seat thrilling at the same time. Where did this John Wray come from? I hadn't heard about either of his other two novels, although the critics seem to have gone ga-ga over them, too. I can't gush over this book enough. I was so entertained and entranced reading it that at one point I didn't even realize I was crying. I just flipped over this thing. Did I mention that it's also really funny?

Problematic

It's inevitable that John Wray's LOWBOY be compared with Mark Haddon's THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME. The difference, it seems to me, is that Haddon had experience working with autistic children. I never got that sense with Wray's book.

A review on the back cover of LOWBOY refers to the main character, Will Heller, as "a hero as three-dimensional as any in recent fiction." Ironically, that's the problem I had with the book. All of the characters seemed flat to me, including Will. Most of the time, Will doesn't seem all that schizophrenic. Sure he tries to mate with a bag lady, and he has a delusion that if he has sex he can stop the destruction of the earth through global warming, but in other respects he doesn`t do that much except ride the subway and bump into denizens of the deep who aren`t that interesting either. Even his nickname, Lowboy, is a kind of furniture. Emily, his girlfriend, may have some emotional problems of her own. Will originally gets in trouble because she tried to hug him and he pushed her onto the subway tracks because he didn't like being touched. But she comes back for more, apparently because Will looks a lot like Brad Pitt. At one point she tells Will that he should never wear pants, but then she freaks out when he gets serious. The detective in the story, Ali Lateef, who is trying to track Will down, seems more interested in Will's mother, Violet. About the only surprise in the story is Violet's so-called secret.

The minor characters are even less interesting. Skull and Bones, Will's attendants before his escape onto the subway, are practically invisible. Heather Covington, the bag lady Will meets in the subway tunnels, is pretty much a stereotype.

I cannot think of one character I could identify with and that wasn't the case with Haddon's book. Christopher Boone inspires empathy; when Christopher was afraid, I was afraid. Mark Haddon put me in Christopher's shoes. That doesn't happen in Wray's book.

John Wray's masterpiece

Having stumbled upon this novel quite by accident, I was mesmerized by the story of a psychotic adolescent who has escaped from a mental institution and his mother's frantic efforts to save him or to save anyone whom he might harm in a story that covers just a little over 24 hours.

Many parts of the book are told through the paranoid schizophrenic eyes of the beautiful 16-year old boy, adding a great deal of realism to the tragic yet hopeful story. Wray has apparently accomplished a great deal of insight into the mind of paranoid schizophrenia as well as the mind of innocent youth throughout the world.

Woven into this thrilling story is the beautiful and enigmatic mother and the thoughtful and provocative detective she hires to catch the boy before he harms himself or someone in his way to accomplish what he must accomplish to save the world.

Reserve some time for this novel because once you start reading it, you won't be able to put it down.

First WKC was brand new to the US so a guide was needed for the armor tables, best quests for drops, stats, loot, combat, etc. Honestly, it's a lot faster for me to hit NeoSeeker for a direct answer than to thumb through the 100+ pages in the guide. The chapters are generic (ie - 'equip a weapon before entering combat') and dont break down into details how to really optimize your class.
One thing this guide does well is give you the breakdown on where to find all the Elder gear for your knight
And the requirements for unlocking/solving the errands.
If you're brand new to WKC series, this will get you combat-ready. If you want the nitty gritty on what to expect after you finish the single player and continue on with guild ranks, gear and levels on GeoNet, NeoSeeker's wikia is lightyears better.

White Knight Chronicles II Strategy Guide

This is a pretty good guide. A lot of information is packed in this manual. Although no strategy guide is perfect, this one is pretty good. It has some redeeming qualities.

WHAT IS IN THE GUIDE
I will not bother too much with what is not here or what is 'wrong' with the guide. That being said, here is what is in the book.

Walkthrough
A very nice walkthrough of WKCII's story mode. The first game's walkthrough may be accessed from Brady Games' website, so it says.

Skills
These are listed in charts in the order the skills are listed in game. Direct prerequisites are listed, as well as the Skill Point and Magic Point costs. There is a nice overview of the skills.

Bestiary
Wow. Item drops are listed by the beasty that drops the item.

Equipment
All here, arranged alphabetically. I am certain if these were listed some other way some people would complain. There are pictures of each armor and weapon.

Items
All of the items are listed by type: Ores, Fossils, Crystals, Timber, Lumber, Flowers, Cotton, Mushrooms and Insects. Next are the monster drops by monster type. Then enhancement materials and finally Other materials.

Binding Recipes
Yep, all here.

Quests & Bounties
Only the WKCII quests and bounties are here.

Errands
They are all here. Including those from the first game.

Georama
Each part is listed. Also, all recruitable residents, where to find them, recruit requirements and what they produce for your georama are all listed. Furthermore, all parts and residents are pictured.

Overview
Stats are explained. I now know what Burden is and what it does!

Hmm, still dunno where to get a cedar plank .... I need to play more I guess. It sure is expensive!

I only listed the major parts of the guide. It has a lot of information in it. I found this guide to be very useful. Did you know, if you see yellow butterflies there may be a special gather point nearby? I used to only look for the starry trees and stuff.

Anyway, while no strategy guide is perfect, this one is pretty good. White Knight Chronicles II is a big game and a lot of fun. This guide is quite helpful.

Brady cheaped out. WKC1 info non-existant; bestiary woefully inadequate

The WKC2 game disc includes a revamped version of WKC1 (original story, but using the WKC2 game mechanics). Brady took the cheap route and rather than including everything in this guide, they only include the WKC2 half of the stuff & hosted WKC1 eGuide PDF, with the URL printed in the WKC2 guide for you visit to download it. There are 2 major problems with this approach:
1. The printed URL no longer works, meaning if you're new to WKC, this guide will be useless for your first half of the game.
2. The bestiary in this guide only lists the enemies that make their first appearance in WKC2 & doesn't include enemies that originally appeared in WKC1. The problem here is that quite a few enemies have undergone major changes - physical attack type weaknesses/resistances, item drop rates, status ailment resistances, & some have even had their elemental attributes reversed.

Aside from the 2 major flaws above, there are the standard guide issues - typos, misprints, occasional chest with mislabeled contents, etc and lack of in-depth game mechanic/strategy coverage (IMO, it doesn't cover staggers & breaks nearly well enough; I don't remember it even mentioning break drops). It does have a few redeeming qualities that allow it to barely squeak by with a 3 star rating:
1. The WKC2 story walkthrough is actually pretty helpful (granted you won't need it for most of the story).
2. The Rift maps are great for deciding which rifts are worth exploring & what order to do them in (varies depending upon your preference).
3. The skill tree, bounty, & errand sections are great for reference.
4. It does a great job of covering precisely how equipment weight affects your speed (the in-game tutorial just mentions heavier stuff is slower & doesn't give the exact details).

What the guide does have is useful, but it irritates me that the only reason this guide isn't great is because Brady decided to cheap out and not make the effort, so I feel that giving it 3 stars is being quite generous.
